Final Post: Let's Talk About The Course!

Image
HELLO ALL! Welcome to the final post of the Educational Technology class I've been taking during this term. In this post, I will be talking about a lot such as how I find this course beneficial and how it helped to improve. First of all, I figured out that my vision about technology integration in language class before I started taking the course was pretty limited. I was considering that integration is about the teacher rather than the student and my views were shaped according to my belief that students could only partially contribute or benefit from it. After taking the course I figured out that technology integration is more about the STUDENTS rather than the teacher. The teacher can only guide the students, at most can show how to benefit from the technology but IT IS SIGNIFICANT for students to try and discover technology themselves and learn how to make use of it. The tasks that I completed during this course helped me to improve my talents in using technology and also gave

Digital Storytelling: Brave Turtle Bobo Learns A Lot!

Image
HELLO ALL! Today I will be presenting you the penultimate task of this blog, for this term of course! For this week's task, I am going to be talking about is DIGITAL STORYTELLING!!!! First of all, let me inform you a bit about digital storytelling. Digital storytelling is basically creating a short story with computer-based tools. Anyone can create digital stories with different aims. Digital stories can be created to tell a story, to raise awareness about an issue, to share opinions, or to show how to do something. It is much easier to create computer-based content with the help of some websites such as  animatron , which we used.  Animatron  enables you to create stories easily. It offers numerous different templates for you to create any type of animation. As the first step of our task, my friend Esma( you can visit her perfectly-designed website  by clicking here  ) and I had a discussion about what to do and decided on creating a children's story with a beautiful messag

Creating an Infographic!

Image
infographicphoto Hello All! Today I'm going to share this week's task with you. Which is creating an infographic. First of all, what is an infographic?  An infographic is a collection of imagery, charts, and short texts that enables readers to understand a topic in the most basic way. Secondly, it makes you look cool! And if you are saying that you are already cool, it makes you even cooler.  Let's talk about the process. To begin with, creating an infographic is an easy task. There are lots of websites or edit apps that enable you to create infographics. You can use templates in these websites, which is much easier. You just need to fill in the information you want to share in a graphic template you choose.  I consider using it in class because it enables students to understand the topic easier as it is visual. It makes the topic easier to remember. I would like to make my students create an infographic, as well. They can create infographics for their presentations or when

Creating A Magazine Cover!

Image
HELLO ALL! Welcome to my edutech blog!  This week's task is to create an online poster. For this task we had two options to choose from, we were supposed to create either a movie poster or a magazine cover. As you can take a guess from the title of this post I went with the latter.  At first, I was indecisive about which one to create as both seemed very exciting, yet when I gave it a second thought I decided to create a magazine cover. I wanted to see what it'd be like if I were to create one for a real magazine and this idea gave me goosebumps. I wanted to create a cover for a book magazine. I made a photoshoot with my favorite actress, Anne Hathaway, and interviewed her about her reading preferences- in my pinky dream world, of course!  During the process of creating my magazine cover, I had a chance to discover three different poster creating websites, for the two of which I don't have positive feelings as they were not offering enough features! Also, as I liked this t

Collabrating On A Collabration Tool: Creating A Padlet Together!

Image
Hello All! Today I will introduce you to this week's topic which is creating a Padlet with my groupmates. First of all, What is Padlet? Well, Padlet is an online virtual bulletin board, which enables users to create a hidden wall with a custom URL. It is an easy-manageable website, where students and teachers can collaborate, share links, and pictures on topics. The website can be used by students as it is not only visually delightsome but easy-manageable, as well.  The topic we choose to discuss is school bullying, which is one of the biggest threats to one's academic life.  We shared what we already knew about the topic, thought on what we wanted to learn, and made some research, and wrote down what we learned on our board.  You can see our board by clicking  here .  You can visit my friends' pages. Creating A Wiki!

Image
Hello Again! wiki-photo   This week I created a Wiki page for my Educational Technologies class. In the Wiki page I created, I talked about one of my favourite books: The Sound of Waves by Japanese author Yukio Mishima. Mishima is one of my favourite writers and the reason why I love this work is The Sound of Waves is quite different from Mishima's other works I've read so far. It is a very positive and motivating young love story with a very folcloric vibe. Creating a Wiki was a great experience for me and I liked it quite a lot. I had a chance to learn about the books that I haven't read and I will definitely read some of them. I am planning to use Wikis during my teaching journey. I will probably be doing Wikis with my students. It is very easy to create a page on a Wiki and share information so it will most probably be an activity I will make use of. You can see my Wiki by clicking  here .

My Podcast!

Hello all! This is my first time creating a podcast and I am so excited. I generally listen lots of podcasts on Spotify and other apps or websites. My podcast is vox-pop podcast , short for Vox Papuli , which means “voice of people ” in Latin and it basically is a collection of short interviews with random people from public. In my podcast I asked the question “How does online education make you feel?” to university students who are subjects of online education from different universities in Turkey, including Marmara University, Ege University, Yıldız Teknik University and Kocaeli University and high-school students in order to expand the range of the podcast. I especially tried to ask a question that is up-to-date. I wanted from my friends to share their geniune feelings and ideas about the topic. The answers will make you figure out that online education is much more troubled than you think. It is a huge problem that affects the students both physically and mentally. Not being ab
